Factory Automation Zero-Risk Fab Modernization

One of Us Fab wanted to deploy an advanced Recipe Management System to improve operational control and eliminate errors. However, their production line was constrained by a single, tightly controlled SECS/GEM connection per tool, and company policy strictly prohibited adding a second Host. Modifying or disrupting the existing, validated Factory Host communication was entirely off the table.

To overcome these constraints, eInnoSys deployed an intelligent, non-intrusive SECS/GEM middleware bridge between the tools and the Factory Host. Acting as a transparent pass-through layer, the bridge forwards all standard automation traffic unmodified with zero latency, while simultaneously monitoring and parsing recipe-specific data (uploads, downloads, and validation events) for the new management system.

The implementation achieved full recipe visibility and automated integrity tracking with zero production downtime. The entire rollout required no changes to tool software, no physical rewiring, and no modifications to the existing Factory Host configuration—delivering a rapid, risk-free brownfield modernization.
